Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to abolish the death penalty for eight categories of criminal offenses: embezzlement, bribery, counterfeiting medicines, espionage, drug trafficking, vandalism of state property, sabotage, and acts aimed at overthrowing the government.
